about

The Lenox Brothers
Certain music seems to fall into your lap.
As though it were visiting you.

Some sort of day for night, a delicate blue filter, and a blurred outline, just enough to make it soft. Precarious stillness, and one step from darkness along slanting and far-off boulevards.
Uneasy languishing, possibly, in this music born from a recording session at the Wave Ahead Studio in October 2020, a year and a day after Gianni Lenoci passed away.
We were in the studio that was like a second home for him.
The covered piano watched us the whole time.
Not everybody knows about Gianni’s passion for certain TV series from the ‘60s and ‘70s. He was a great fan of the series ‘Columbo’, and he could even recall the earliest episodes, where the aesthetic standard of the Californian middle-class contemplated interior settings, in which paintings by Rothko, Barnett Newman, and McLaughlin came into view…
Or about his passion for Simenon, and the suspense of certain noir fiction he sometimes colored his voicings at the piano with.

A TV-series color, rather nocturnal that we wish to dedicate to him.
Like an original remembrance soundtrack, partly light, partly groovy, and even lyric. Moving as end credits are.

Gianni Mimmo

Certe musiche sembrano poterti cadere in grembo.
Come ti visitassero.
